Master’s Thesis – AI-Assisted Design of Electrical Machines (m/f/d)

FEAAM – Research Center for Electrical Drive Technology and Actuation Munich – was founded in 2006 as a result of advanced research activities in the environment of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich.

Today, we operate as an independent high-tech research and development company in the field of electrical drive systems. Our focus lies on the physics-based design, simulation, and optimization of electrical machines and actuators for demanding applications.

We develop innovative topologies, optimize electromagnetic systems, and create holistic drive concepts with a focus on efficiency, power density, dynamics, and system integration.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Familiarization with the fundamentals of designing and calculating electrical machines
  • Analysis of existing calculation methods and simulation approaches
  • Development and application of AI models to support the design process (e.g., machine learning, neural networks)
  • Comparison of results with classical calculation methods
  • Documentation and evaluation of results

Your Profile:

  • Degree studies in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science, or a comparable field
  • Basic knowledge of electrical machines and artificial intelligence is an advantage
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
  • Independent and structured way of working

We Offer:

  • An exciting and practice-oriented research topic
  • Opportunity to deepen AI competencies in a technical environment
  • Flexible working hours aligned with your studies
